Justin Lin has been announced as the director for the fifth installment of the Bourne franchise. Lin will take over from Tony Gilroy for the sequel to the 2012 film The Bourne Legacy. Justin Lin is best known for helming the Fast and Furious series since its third film Tokyo Drift. He is widely credited with turning round the fortunes of the series culminating with Fast and Furious 6 taking over $788 million worldwide.
Lin is obviously seen as the man to revitalise the Bourne series after the disappointing fourth entry. He left the Fast and Furious series after the seventh film’s release was brought forward to July 2014. Feeling that the film would suffer sue to lack of development time he bowed out.
The new Bourne film is currently in development. No title, screenwriter or plot details have been released to date. One notable fact is that Jeremy Renner will return as Aaron Cross.
