Sad news from Hollywood this evening as reports confirm that Harold Ramis has passed away. His agent confirmed to the BBC earlier that Ramis died of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis.
“His creativity, compassion, intelligence, humour and spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him,” said his family in a statement.
Known to many as Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters, Ramis was also a successful writer and director. His name appears on some of the most influential comedies of the last four decades including Animal House, Ghostbusters, Caddyshack and Groundhog Day.
If for some reason you are unfamiliar with his work, tonight is as good a night as any to acquaint yourself with it.
