Back for its eleventh year is the Glasgow Film Festival. The festival runs from the 18th of February to the 1st of March and features a host of films and events that surely has something for everyone. The gala opening event is the UK premiere of the new Noah Baumbach comedy, While We’re Young, starring Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts. Closing the festival is the UK premiere of the Cannes wining movie Force Majeure.
The programme of events is split into sixteen strands that cover a wide variety of topics from the very new to the cinema of the past. One of the highlights is the Cinema City strand which is the product of four years of hard work by Glasgow Film. It goes into depth on the Glasgow public’s love affair with the cinema. There is an exhibition, Jeely Jars and Seeing Stars, which runs for the length of the festival, several events and a selection of films shot in the city.
As well as full programs at the Glasgow Film Theatre there are screenings and events all over the city, in cinemas and some special pop up venues. There is far too much to list here. For full information on the festival please go to the festival website at http://visitgff.glasgowfilm.org/
Moviescramble will be attending a number of screenings throughout the festival and reviews will be up soon.
