It’s hard to believe that the Fast and Furious franchise had a life before Dwayne Johnson. Despite only making his debut in the fifth instalment, Johnson’s hulking Luke Hobbs has become as synonymous with the series as Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Fans will be pleased to hear that the massive Interpol agent with a penchant for cheesy one liners, and a bucketload of testosterone, will be returning for Fast and Furious 8.
When asked by Collider is Hobbs would be returning, Johnson answered, ” Of course. It can’t go on without Hobbs.” I tend to agree.
If that isn’t enough to quench your needs, Johnson also spoke about the rumoured Hobbs’ spinoff film.
“We all are interested in it,” he states. “I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we’ll see. I still think for me personally we’ve created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That’s my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have to have input.”
Hopefully common sense prevails on this one.
