The live action adaptation of Akira has spent so much time in development hell any news of its progression has almost become a running joke. The closest it came to getting made was in 2012 when Garrett Hedlund and Kristen Stewart were in talks to star in the Leonardo DiCaprio produced sci-fi epic.
Now Marco J. Ramirez has been tasked with penning a live action adaptation. Ramirez, who has written for Sons of Anarchy and Daredevil, will take over as showrunner for the latter’s second season.
