Falling into the category of need to see this right now is the new boxing drama, Creed. The film tells the tale of Adonis Johnson as he struggles to make it as a Boxer. He never knew his father, Apollo Creed, as he died in the ring before Adonis was born. In order to be able to compete as a boxer he travels to Philadelphia to seek out the one time rival and good friend of his father.
Creed sees Michael B Johnston in the title role. He is reunited with director Ryan Coogler after their collaboration in the 2014 drama Fruitvale station. For something that looks like a studio’s attempt to stretch a franchise a little further it comes as a pleasant surprise to learn that the project was one that Coogler had developed over a number of years and is in fact the co-screenwriter on the movie.
Creed is released in the US on the 25th of November and the UK on the 16th of February 2016.
