It’s been less than a day since Jason Reitman announced that he would be making a new Ghostbusters film. No, it isn’t a remake or a reboot, instead it will be a direct sequel to Ghostbusters II, a new chapter in the original franchise Jason’s father Ivan first started in 1984.
“I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a six-year-old visiting the set,” the director told Entertainment Weekly. “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ‘80s happened in the ‘80s, and this is set in the present day.”
Intrigued, excited, outraged? Maybe the teaser trailer will change your mind. With little to no information available, including who will be cast or who will return, this little snippet is enough to gut punch fans like me in the nostalgic feels. It’s hard not to watch and smile a little, especially with the score used.
Have a watch and let us know in the comments as to your thoughts.
