Hot of the heels of a very clever and exciting viral teaser comes the first proper footage of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Living in a nightmarish apocalyptic world, Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen) look to the past in order to save the future.
Despite the plot holes the continuity raises, the idea of merging the worlds of the original X-Men trilogy with X-Men: First Class is incredibly ambitious, with James McAcoy and Michael Fassbender returning as the young Xavier and Magneto, however if anyone can do it Bryan Singer can. Having re-invented the mutants for the big screen it seems only fitting that he the franchise come full circle with him stepping in for Matthew Vaughan who left the project last year (would’t be the first time).
The haunting trailer should send shivers down the spine of fans as it looks to make its claim as the best superhero film ever. Well, if they pull it off that is which I, for one, am hoping they do.
