In the year 2031 the planet has suffered a major climatic disaster and the only survivors left on Earth are the occupants of a train, The Snowpiercer, that travels the globe using a perpetual motion system. As with real life a class system evolves with the rich and powerful at the front and the poor and down-trodden stuck in the squalor at the rear. Fed up with this life the poor rebel and try to take over the train.
From Joon-Ho Bong, the director behind Asian cinematic triumphs such as Memories of Murder, The Host and Mother, the new film marks his entry into the English language market. The film is based on a French graphic novel called Le Transperceneige. In front of the camera is an impressive cast including John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Ed Harris, Chris Evans and Kang-Ho Song the memorable lead in the vampire movie Thirst.
A release date has not yet been set for the movie but it looks like one to look forward to.
