When Ben Affleck was cast as Batman for the upcoming Man of Steel sequel, the internet went into a predictable meltdown. Whatever your thoughts on the actor, the director is met with near universal praise. Rumours at the time suggested that Affleck would go behind the camera to direct the inevitable Justice League film. Well, it turns out that a rumour is all it was.
Zack Snyder, who recently directed Man of Steel and will direct the follow-up, has been charged tackling for DC and Warner Brothers’ answer to The Avengers. Naturally, the fan boys are reaching for their medication.
Marvel tasked each superhero with a different director before Joss Whedon was tasked to bring it all together. A ballsy move, it also managed to keep each film fresh. Leaving the onscreen DC universe in the hands of one man is equally as risky a move by comparison. Then again this is the man that successfully brought The Watchmen to the silver screen while so many others failed.
